If you are new to TripAdvisor, I’d like to suggest a few tips to best utilize this online resource. It’s a great review site of hotels, flights, and vacation rentals.
- When reading reviews, look for a pattern, don’t rely on one review to make up your mind.
- Be aware that the travel business has caught on to TripAdvisor and competitors are logging in and posting negative deceitful reviews.
- Being a rude traveler will get you NOWHERE! The reviews that claim they were putting up a fight at the front desk and then surprisingly there was a break in there room shortly after, are not random. I’ve seen this situation on almost every hotel’s reviews in one form or another. Don’t listen to these people and don’t be this person when you travel.
- Sometimes resorts have similar names and the review you are reading is really for a different hotel. Make sure the review is in the right place.
- If you had a bad experience at a hotel, you are more likely to complain somewhere like TripAdvisor. If you had a decent trip you might not spend the time making a review. Take everything that you read with a grain of salt.
- Do look at pictures taken by reviewers. It’s a good way to see what everything really looks like compared to the pictures the hotel posts in their marketing materials.
I think TripAdvisor helps the budget minded traveler make the best choices for their trip. I think it is an excellent resource for travel agents and travel enthusiasts alike!
