Is Niagara still the Honeymoon Capital of the World?

The nostalgia of this natural wonder drew us in, Niagara Falls for a couple nights sounded just perfect.  We stayed on the Canadian side, as every good tourist should know.  Since 1902 Niagara Falls has been called the Honeymoon Capital of the World.  Until you have been there you just don’t understand the beauty and romance of the falls.  I was attracted to them.  We spent many meals and morning coffee just watching the falls & walking the surrounding area.  If you do go, spend the extra cash to walk behind the falls and do the Maid of Midst tour.  They are just pure fun!  Speaking of extra cash, you’ll need it here.  The rest of the town is a huge tourist trap which turned me off.  Families seemed to love it, a lot of entertainment for children.  We had a great dinner at the Wolfgang Puck restaurant, unfortunately it recently closed.  Do check out the Fallsview Casino & Resort, great for a date night, so much to do under one roof.

Niagara Falls Tip: When booking your accomodations, beware of misleading pictures of the view from your room.

Do I think Niagara is still the Honeymoon Capital of the World?  I won’t be the one to discharge this historic advertising claim.  We did appreciate the old Hollywood charm of the town and a couple could have a very romantic honeymoon or 2nd honeymoon in Niagara.  I do think it is a really great weekend trip for families.  It is something to see and say you have seen, plus it’s great for the kids to check this one off the list early.  I look forward to visiting again and showing it off to my kids!
